freelancetranslate was founded in 2020 in Segrate, in the technology district east of Milan near Linate airport. Localisation was the starting project: software for the Italian market from international products, and Italian documentation for German and English-speaking markets. Over time we expanded logically, adding capability where clients had real needs.

The Segrate district hosts many technology and financial companies. Our initial clients were exactly that type and they defined our service catalogue: software, corporate finance, legal documentation. E-commerce was added when retail businesses were beginning to expand online across Europe. Technical and engineering came through contacts in the Lombard manufacturing sector.

Every specialisation has translators with verifiable domain backgrounds. We do not work with generalist translators. When a client brings an Italian law contract to translate into English for a British counterparty, we work with someone who has legal training in both traditions. This is non-negotiable.
